Going Forward.

Oh my! I have not been blogging much. Okay…I haven’t been blogging at all. (Disclaimer: this will probably be one of those self-indulgent posts more useful to myself than to you, dear reader.)

Between my usual overthinking and recent circumstances, I’ve been finding lots of excuses to not blog, not post, not make videos…

My intention is to change that. Will I still backslide? Yes. But I’m changing my approach, and hoping this will yield better results.

One of my excuses for not posting is that I often feel as though I have to be presenting a ton of useful and straightforward information about a given topic. Of course, useful and straightforward information is great, but I feel like this has made the blog–my blog–become less personal.

While I want this to be a place where all crafters (or soon-to-be-crafters) can find value, I also still want it to be a reflection of me, a journal of my personal experiences. Moth and Rust is not a big company–it’s one small project by one woman, and I feel as though I’ve lost sight of that.

So now? I’m giving myself permission to simply document and share my experience–without overanalyzing, without having to include every fact pertinent to the topic, without feeling the need to put some kind of generic filter on my posts.

I’ve been busy in the garden, and honestly not crafting much. I feel like this is a craft blog first, but I also want it to be a blog about simple living, and gardening is a huge part of that. And it is the gardening season, so…what am I waiting for?! Expect more plant posts to come soon.

I’ve also been stuck in a mindset that my posts have to be lengthy, or else why bother? Permission to self to write short posts: granted!

If you’re still reading, thank you. As always, my number one goal is to inspire and facilitate creativity and learning…if you have any feedback you want to share, any project you’re excited about sharing, any question you have…let me know!

Gratefully yours,
Leanne
