Sharing Our Shortcomings

One time, a friend and I were discussing crafting and projects and the like…she was lamenting some of her mistakes, and said something about how all my stuff turned out great. This was hilarious to me…but I guess it made sense. After all, I was the only one who knew about my huge pile of failed projects. But this was just because I had never bothered to shared it.

Failing to share my failures wasn’t intentional, I just didn’t ever think about doing it. And honestly, I hadn’t thought about it again until recently.

When you’re looking at an amazing dress that someone sewed, or their bountiful garden produce, or some other seemingly perfect project, it’s important to remember that there are a lot of “failed” projects and mistakes lurking behind the scenes. Whether it’s intentional or not, we usually don’t put our worst foot forward.

I’m trying to remember this myself. I also want to try to remember to share some of my challenges, failures, shortcomings…I don’t have a perfect studio (far from it!!!), I frequently screw up projects, and there are many times when I am really not sure of myself. (Umm, more like most of the time.)

Rather than being discouraged by this, I hope you’ll be encouraged. The truth is, you can create and do amazing things without being perfect…because no one is!
